Tällberg is a little picturesque village located in the
heart of Sweden. It is situated on the shore of Lake Siljan, in
the northern part of Leksand, a municipality in the county of
Dalecarlia. All the houses and buildings are made of wood, such
as timber or log.
The village has about 200 permanent residents and a further 600
people have holiday cottages. There are eight hotels in this little
village, most of high International standard and altogether over
1.000 hotel beds. More than half a million people visit Tällberg
each year.
Year round seasonal activities
Tällberg has no special tourist season, it is attractive
all year round. During the summer, many traditional activities
take place with music and folkdance. A variety of amusement arrangements take place on the
shore of Lake Siljan, where there is a dance-floor. The raising
of Maypoles during midsummer is a popular tourist attraction.
During the winter, the ski-slopes and tracks in the neighbourhood
are popular and many visitors come to Tällberg to experience
a real Swedish Christmas.
How do I get to Tällberg
Tällberg is easily reached by car, train or air. It is situated
about 260 kilometers (160 miles) northwest of Stockholm, the capital
of Sweden. There are direct and comfortable trains from Stockholm
and Arlanda airport and travel time is approximately 3 hours.
